Description: Up for sale is a fantastic piece of history. George Washington's full 1st inaugural address printed as the entire front page (except one small blurb at bottom of third column after speech) of the Glasgow Advertiser. Published July 6th, 1789 for the Monday July 6th - Friday July 10th 1789 issue of the Glasgow Advertiser. Signed G Washington in the print The address is the entire front page page of the paper and is the only European paper I can find that dedicated this level of space to the address. Washington delivered the speech April 30th, 1789. The speech must have then boarded a ship and was printed upon the ships arrival in Glasgow. Not the first time the speech was printed as there are several United States papers that ran it in its entirety but this may be the first time it was printed in Europe. Paper is frame with two sides of glass showing the front and rear page. The paper is not complete as the middle pages are not present. Overall in nice condition. A couple small chips and rips. Mostly at crease. Darkening and discoloration to the paper. See photos to get a clear picture of the coloring. The rear page that is visible is mostly advertisements. An amazingly rare piece of history. Please email with questions and see my store for other great items.
