Description: Striking Italian dish signed ‘Firenze’ (Florence). I didn’t realize the fleur-de-lis is the official emblem of the city of Florence until I did some research. From the web: “The fleur-de-lis represents Florence's cultural heritage, devotion to Mary, and socio-political evolution.” On the back there is a built-in pair of holes to hang dish, if you like. Overall condition is excellent. The white field is bright and looks new, though there is minor crazing that is only noticeable on close inspection. The painted red color of the fleur-de-lis is vibrant. The gilt rim is in outstanding condition with no wear. No chips or cracks or utensil marks. On the underside is a minuscule area of black that I can’t determine, and a bump in the porcelain that happened during production. (See photos where I indicate with a bamboo skewer.) I don’t have any idea of its age. Diameter: 6” It would make a thoughtful gift for someone who loves Italy and especially the city of Florence.
