Description: The Blueline Art Board for a Sex-Themed Cover! This Auction Includes: FIRST LAY! Blue Line Proof Art By The Legendary JOE ORLANDO On Heavy Bainbridge Board From 1973, To Produce A Full-Color Comic Cover Inside A Bronze-Age Satire Magazine. (See Pic's) THE STORY IS CLEARLY INTENDED FOR A MATURE AUDIENCE, AND WAS PUBLISHED IN THE FEBRUARY, 1974 ISSUE OF NATIONAL LAMPOON MAGAZINE, THE "STRANGE SEX" ISSUE THAT'S A TRUE CLASSIC FROM THE HEYDAY OF NATLAMP! THIS BECAME THE COVER TO A PARODY ROMANCE COMIC, DONE IN THE STYLE OF FIRST LOVE AND YOUNG LOVE COMICS, BUT WITH AN ANIMAL HOUSE THEME SO MUCH MORE SORDID AND SALACIOUS THAN ANY ISSUES OF TRADITIONAL TITLES SUCH AS 'GIRL'S LOVE' OR 'YOUNG ROMANCES'! This college frat lust piece was beautifully rendered, and would be ideal to frame and hang on a wall, shelf, or desk; A conversation piece of the highest order. (You could pick up a copy of the seventies parody mag to display along with it!) Not intended for all-ages periodicals such as his renowned EC Comics output, this Orlando showpiece depicts a young freshman about to lose his virginity. The incredible attention to detail becomes apparent when it's viewed in person. Very unusual piece, a true glimpse into this legendary talent's creative prowess. See the photographs, which don't do it justice. I took a couple pictures of it next to random comic-books, for scale, but no comics are included with the art board. It was part of the Jack Adler Collection, and will include a C.O.A. See our bronze-age DC cover art color guides in our ebay store for a lot of additional information about the provenance. This would be a great addition to any collection of comix or comic-art or Orlando art and underground ephemera or the Romance Comic fan's collection... --'Nuff said! Many of you have read about cover production art in C.B.M. and/or C.B.G. (Comic Book Marketplace #85 or Comics Buyer's Guide #'s 1399, 1402, 1414, etc.) We are secure packagers and prompt shippers so expect to be pleased. Back in the "good ole days", most publishers normally burned or discarded such production art once the comic went to print. Fortunately, Jack Adler, long-term Vice President of Production at DC Comics, retained a good assortment of comic art, representing such crucial artistic steps in the comics' production process. Additional pieces can now be found by checking the other Key Comics ebay items. Buy aggressively, as such items are often one-of-a-kind, and old production pieces to adult and underground comix as a whole are notoriously rare. Large blueline proofs are exceedingly rare in the market; it's significantly larger than comic-size, at 10.25" x 13.5". Bone-white whites and no foxing nor staining, obviously very well preserved for posterity! This is a must-have piece for any fan of rare production art, or for the serious romance memorabilia buff, or just the art fan who doesn't have four-figure$ to drop on a b/w piece by Orlando but still enjoys owning true rarities ~ to keep himself satisfied visually, while keeping his portfolio diversified in a most dramatic fashion!
