An early printing of 1919 or earlier. Published by Hutchinson & Co., and printed by Hazell, Watson & Viney, Ltd. in London: Condition: 4to. xxiii, 205 pages including the Appendix, Notes and 31 full page tissue guarded illustrations by Pogany including the Frontis. Publishers red cloth with gilt lettering and borders; top edge gilt. Light wear to the board's, edges and corners with sunning to the spine and a small dampstain with some discoloration along the upper cloth backstrip and with some softening and chipping to the spine tips. Some foxing and toning to the endpapers with some toning to a few interior page edges. The Armorial bookplate of noted British Barrister and Judge Travers Christmas Humphreys who once represented poet & playwright Oscar Wilde and later presided over the famous case of John George Haigh, England's notorious "Acid Bath Murderer" affixed to the front pastedown, and Humphrey's signature and December 1919 date visible in ink on the front flyleaf.
