Description: ESTES SCION MODEL ROCKET KIT .. up for bids is this exceedingly rare model rocket kit from ESTES. Not even considered "out of production" this SCION kit was never packaged as a production kit, but was rather assembled from parts from the popular "out of production" LEVIATHAN rocket kit. Not a homemade "clone" kit, this is the real deal as offered by ESTES Industries in 2015. Know as SPEK or SPEV (spare part elimination kit/vehicle) this kit is comprised of the two (2) long LEVIATHAN body tubes (the smaller LEVIATHAN tube, slotted for fins is not included) making this model a whopping 51.9" tall when completed. The other main difference between SCION and LEVIATHAN is the fin configuration, with the SCION using a 3 fin design, in an upswept configuration. Interestingly, ESTES decided to include the complete fin bag from the LEVIATHAN kit, so you receive 4 fins instead of the needed 3. As with other Pro Series II kits the fins are plywood, with a plastic nose cone. Recommended engine is F15-4 (no engines, or any other items necessary for launch are included; see photos). Assembly instructions are included with more information about construction and flying available on line. Not a beginners kit, construction is straightforward but the instructions call for "through the tube" cutting of fin mounting slots meant for experienced rocketeers. This kit is in excellent like new condition just as it came from ESTES as "a bag of parts", without some of the items usually included with regular kits, such as the "face card" that usually shows the completed model with a completed paint scheme.
