The partners spent their days matching the custom frames Ritchey supplied to an assortment of parts they had chosen. They called their business Mountainbikes. A custom bike company.As bigger companies got involved, the partners struggled to meet demand. Fisher and Ritchey clashed. In 1983, Fisher took control of the company, leaving Kelly hurt and Ritchey furious. In 1983, inspired by Specialized, Gary Fisher saw the need for a lower priced bike.
