Description: Cartridge and case. Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" for NES was released by Bandai in 1989. Even if you've read the "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," expect some differences from the original story in this game. Bandai has largely kept the plot of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" somewhat similar to the book. You play as Dr. Jekyll, and you need to get to a wedding in London. Unfortunately for you, all manner of evil beasts are looking to stop you. From birds and dogs to townsfolk and opera singers, everyone wants to kill your character. The rule with this game is that if it's on the screen, avoid it. After five levels of gameplay, the adventure is over. However, this title, like most NES games, is known for being incredibly challenging. It could take most gamers months to reach the end, ensuring many hours of engaging gameplay. As Dr. Jekyll, your only weapon is a stick. This weapon, however, isn't enough to do much damage to your opponents. For the best results, you will need to avoid your enemies entirely. You can do this by either running away from them or jumping over them. If you take too much damage, you'll transform into the powerful monster known as Mr. Hyde. As this beast, you'll gain access to the Psycho Wave. This powerful attack travels in an arc and obliterates everything in its path. Instead of regular humans, you will have to face terrifying monsters and demons. The goal is to defeat enough enemies to fill a meter. You need to do this before you reach the part of the level where you initially fell as the doctor. If you don't kill enough enemies before you reach this part, the game is over. If you do, the game continues as the doctor. Once you reach the end of the level as the doctor, you'll travel to the next stage. For being a title released in 1989, "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" has a unique set of 2D graphics. The sprites are colorful and detailed with no major slowdown when multiple enemies are around. The gameplay is fast paced as enemies dart out from either side of the screen. The transition from Jekyll to Hyde is quick, and you'll be back in action before you know it. The game's soundtrack is also unique, offering you enchanting melodies that will stay with you long after you turn off the game. "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" has earned a unique spot among other video games of this time period, and many fans say that it has garnered the status of a cult classic. US BUYERS ONLY PLEASE.
