Description: Vintage Original Deed date Feb. 1856 conveying two parcels of land in Providence, RI, from Anna Hoppin (wife of Thomas Hoppin), Moses Brown and Samuel Boyd Tobey as Trustee for Anna and Moses to the Yearly Meeting of Friend for New England. 3 Pgs. on lined paper with pink ribbon tie at top the document is signed by Anna, Moses, Samuel and Thomas with seals. Anna was the great-granddaughter of Moses Brown, the early American Industrialist, co-founder of Brown University and most important for purposes of this document, a Quaker. Anna was also very active in the Quaker religious society. And her involvement as a Quaker is also evident by the transaction price for the real estate of $10. Unsure exactly where in Providence property was located and if still owned by the Friends of New England today. Document measures approx. 8 x 12". Condition is good for age there are normal fold and wear along them where we've had to apply tape to prevent further deterioration.
