Description: Shown here are Three Civil War fired and dropped bullets dug from 1972-1978 in different areas of the Shenandoah Valley where battles and skirmishes took place, these were all dug with the property owner's permission. This area was heavily fought over during the war by both Union and Confederate troops, battles fought here included Kernstown, Winchester, Cedar Creek and New Market during Sheridan's Shenandoah Valley campaign. This group of bullets have all the main types of Infantry musket bullets used by both Union and Confederate Infantry. There is a fired .577 cal. Enfield, a dropped or fired .69 cal. Union minie and a dropped .58 cal. minie.
