Description: Note: Photos of other pressed steel toys I have listed on eBay are at the end of the photo "album" for this toy.Description: This dump truck is 27 inches long and was among the very first models produced by Sturditoy, while the company was still located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. So unlike later era trucks (manufactured in Bedford, MA), these were designed before headlights were added. On the upside, the gauges of steel used (on parts like the lift mechanism), are more substantial. It's unique rack-&-pinion like gear system to lift the dump bed is really quite effective, and has a gear-lock that holds the bed at the desired height. The tailgate features a "slide-down" lock bar that is more elaborate than most other pressed steel trucks. There are rubber tires fitted over steel wheels, and five decals adorn the body.PLEASE NOTE: While it comes from another manufacturer (and a later era), the toy wheelbarrow seen in several of the photos is included with the sale of this truck to enhance your display possibilities.You will find a reference to Sturditoy Dump trucks on page 329 in the "Collectors Guide to American Transportation Toys" by Joe and Sharon Freed.Condition: This toy is 100% original. The lift mechanism is perfectly straight and operates as effectively as it did off the store shelves. The outside decals are in outstanding condition. Those inside the cab have a little wear, but still represent very well. Paint coverage and conditions are excellent, and while there is play wear, the amount of paint on the service bed remains substantial. Tires are excellent, and retain rounded contours. There is no rust. One small repair to the front bumper is seen upon close inspection. The rivets that once held the bumper to the chassis have been replaced with, what appears to be two copper pegs (you can see the tops of those pegs in photo 8, and the bottoms in photo 12). The pegs are extremely sturdy, very hard to notice, and have an aged patina that looks naturally compatible with the entire truck.Guarantee: I stand behind my description of this toy, and will provide a full refund (less shipping costs) if there is any material difference between it and the item you receive.
