Description: BackgroundBrunsvigia is a great South African genus of (usually) enormous bulb plants. All the species I grow are summer-dormant, and winter-active. During the summer months you have an empty patch of ground or uninteresting looking pot. But then during the winter you have spectacular, blue-grey leaves.This is usually not a small plant. It needs room. However, this listing is for a dwarfed species... Oh gosh, when it flowers, you have an AMAZING show. The flower stalk is huge, tall, and surmounted by a spangle of flowers that looks absolutely like a big firework wowing the crowd. Do a google search on it to see what it looks like.I'll be honest...none of my plants are flowering size yet...I figure I'm a year from that happy season. But while I'm growing up my plants, I couldn't help germinate some more seeds and I've got a few spares from that batch here. I have been growing this batch of seeds for about four years, so if you want to grow this plant too, you can, and shave four years off the time to flowering.I don't know how long it will take to get them to flower.I am going to ship the plants mostly bare-root, knocked out of the pot. I'll send a brief care sheet with the plant, but they're quite easy. During the summer, they want it dry, and during the winter they love moisture, root room, sunlight, and fertilizer. I would protect them from a killing winter frost. The sale photos are of the exact plants you are buying. I can include a heat pack for $3--you can buy a heat pack from me via one of my other listings. If you want one, contact me immediately upon paying for the plant--sometimes I box and ship plants within an hour of receiving payment. (I don't see a heat pack is really needed.)Please ensure that your shipping address will not expose the boxed plant to extreme conditions. Note, however, as with all plants, you should take suitable pest precautions when you incorporate them into your collection. Just before I ship the plant, I'll give it a careful lookover, to make sure it is free of bugs.
