The protective covering is still on the watch backplate. PLEASE NOTE THAT TO THE BACK OF THE LEATHER STRAP, THERE IS SOME CRAZING/CRACKS - THIS DOES NOT IMPEDE THE FUNCTION OF THE WATCH STRAP. A new battery has been inserted recently, and the watch is keeping good time.
