It’s not often you see these up for sale or auction, so I’m excited for this pack to make it’s way to somebody’s collection for them to enjoy. Fleer made this custom 3 pack bundle of it’s products specifically for the Blockbuster Video Game Championship event. I don’t know whether these packs were given as prizes to just the winning player of each participating store, or only the 11 final contestants/players in San Francisco…..either way, they’re pretty rare. The Fleer custom bundle pack contains the following: 3 packs of cards produced by Fleer…. (1) 1995 Fleer Marvel Metal Inaugural Edition (1) 1994 Flair Marvel Universe Inaugural Edition (1) 1995 Fleer Ultra Reboot Premiere Edition 2. “Congratulations Game Matters! Blockbuster Video Game Championship II” (Cover Card)…very rare, only available in these sealed cellophane packs. FYI, it’s very hard to get a high grade on these. This is the card that really makes this item what it is, in my opinion. A great cover display for the whole item if you choose to keep the pack sealed and throw it up on a mantle, etc…a cool conversation piece for sure. 3. 2 Fleer Ultra Chromium Power Surge Cards 4. Ultimate Fantasy Card Game Promo card This is an amazing piece of 90’s nostalgia…and an overall wonderfully nerd-tastic convergence of comics, trading cards (and the inaugural edition of 2 groundbreaking, massively popular superhero trading card products), and vintage video games. Ahhh, Blockbuster nostalgia, Chromium cards, Spider Man, Marvel Metal…what else could one need in life? In 1995 Blockbuster organized their second Video Game Championship. There were two categories, up to 13 and over 14 years old. Contestants chose to compete on the SNES or SEGA Genesis. From June 14th to July 9th there was a Store Championship Competition, then the WVGC-Finals. Each store awarded a Store Champion with a prize of free rentals for the next two years (two games a month). The best eleven players then won a trip to San Francisco for the final fight in August, inside the GamePro (gaming magazine) HQ.
