Description: This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the two-week, Post-Broadway engagement of the GEORGE MANKER WATTERS and ARTHUR HOPKINS comedy revival "BURLESQUE" at the Selwyn Theatre in Chicago, Illinois beginning January 12th, 1948. (The production opened December 25th, 1946 at New York's Belasco Theatre and ran for 439 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred BERT LAHR and featured FAY McKENZIE, PEGGY CASS (a full year and a half before she would make her Broadway debut), ROBERT WEIL, ROSS HERTZ, NORMAN MORGAN, GAIL GARBER, DERBY ROGERS, BOBBY BARRY, CHARLES G. MARTIN, HAROLD BOSTWICK, NORMAN MORGAN, MICHAEL KEENE, IRENE ALLAIRE, SANTO SCUDI, JOYCE QUINLAN, JEAN LOVELACE, DODIE BAUER, BEVERLY BARRY, ELOISE LOVERIDGE, VALERIE EAST, ADELINE BUTTERS and DANA McRAE. Despite these flaws, this rare handbill will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
