A beautiful antique French La Sainte Bible, leather bound, 286 pages in total dated 1886 some 136 years of age - Printed in Paris. Found with two sepia photographs amongst the pages - a group photograph which is quite hard to see and a separate one of 3 pretty girls. Family register to the front for Marriages, Births and Baptisms, First Communions and Deaths. To the front of the book it is inscribed with the name of the Church (which I can't make out) and the name of the people it was given to: Charles Guillame Georges MERKLE - a name common with the Alsace region of FranceandMarie Victoire CaiseldJour de la bénédiction de leur Mariage (Day of Blessing of Their Marriage) So this was a wedding gift from the Pasteur whose name I also cannot make out (his writing is shocking :0)Condition report: Marks to the outside leather, yellowing and foxing throughout, no torn or missing pages, slight damage to the inside marbled pages at the back see all photographsMeasurements:Closed -Length - 26 cmsWidth - 18 cmsWeight - 1.7 kilos before careful packaging - so this is heavy hence the shipping costs :0( POSTAGE Postage quoted is for "Colissimo International, signed and tracked".
