What's on this DVD:BATTLE OF MIDWAY The battle of Midway was the most important victory of the war, and possibly of the 20th century as well. The US Navy should have never won this battle because of the incredible size difference between the 2 Navy’s. The 2nd film is a technical film that really shows what a difference there was. Also, timing played a lucky part in this story when the US Navy stumbled upon the Japanese carriers that were loaded with planes, bombs, and gasoline to launch their aircraft to attack the US Fleet. Prior that day, almost all of the attacking US Planes were shot down, and all of the USAAF's bombers missed the entire Japanese fleet. All looked like another massive victory for the Japanese. That was until Bill McClusky's Squadron of SBD dive bombers struck. Within 10 minutes, 3 of the Japanese carriers were damaged and destroyed. Later that day, the 4th carrier was destroyed. Amazing! 1st Film: "The Battle of Midway". This one of our films that we digitized at 720 and is all but flawless in content and color. Most copies you may find are a copy of a copy, but not this one. This film was produced by the US Navy with Director John Ford. Very good footage, stunning to see, and the best we have ever seen. Runtime 18:15 Min's 2nd Film: "Technical Story of Midway". This film is by the US Navy and is all about the technical art of the battle of Midway. This is a must see if you want to understand how the US Navy actually won this very important battle. Very historical, and worth seeing. Runtime 26:53 Min's 3rd Film: "Squadron 8". This is a tribute to Squadron 8 that was all but destroyed in the 1st attack on the Japanese fleet. This film illustrates the different pilots that were involved in this battle and lost their lives in this battle. We at CampbellFilms wish to express our honor and gratefulness to these men. Runtime 7:46 Min's. 4th Film: "Midway Is East". This is a Victory At Sea film about the Battle of Midway. VAS always told a story like no other. Great film. This DVD would not be complete without it.
