Description: This is the August, 1947 issue of Astounding magazine. It is Forrest J. Ackerman's copy, displayed for decades in the Ackermansion until his death. This was received directly from the estate after his passing. Most of the Ackerman issues retained the original front cover and had only the rear removed; this was an oddity in that the rear cover was kept as well. The magazine contains the first publication of The Stainless Steel Rat by Harry Harrison. While none of the Ackerman Astoundings were signed when I received them, I did take this copy to a Worldcon that Harrison was attending, and he signed it. It's not a true association copy - Harrison didn't sign it for Ackerman - it's nonetheless a unique item for a science fiction collector.
