Description: Woven cloth, burlap, buckram boards. The only date in the book is 1968 at the end of the forward, however online records list publication date as 1970. Book is in fine condition. Some of the slipped in tissue has damaged edges. There is some slight rubbing on some of the black pages facing color tipped in plates. First Edition. 14" x 10" oblong format, 161 pp. This beautiful book contains bw photographs and many tipped-in color plates of Henry Moore's massive Three Piece Reclining Figure No. 2: Bridge Prop. Renowned sculptor Henry Moore’s Reclining Figure No. 2 — Bridge Prop (also known as Three Piece Reclining Figure), installed on the Main Green at Brown University, is an exploration of the body through the interconnectedness of its various bifurcated pieces. According to the artist, the work was inspired by Waterloo Bridge, London, in which he saw one part of the bridge resting against another — thus the subtitle Bridge Prop. People engage, consciously or not, with the body represented by these three shapely parts. In the case of Bridge Prop and others, the body is represented in multiple pieces that seem to rise up from or disappear into the footprint. These pieces, together, constitute a body that is not fully visible but still completely present. The fun and festive ways viewers engage with Bridge Prop add another layer to the life and dynamism of the piece. The donors, Mr. and Mrs. David Finn were close friends with Henry Moore and his family. David Finn photographed Bridge Prop, and collaborated with poet Donald Hall to publish a book titled As The Eye Moves…a sculpture by Henry Moore. In most cases, the item is properly repackaged but in rare cases it is not, and an item can arrive damaged. As my feedback suggests, I package very carefully. PLEASE NOTE: For book sales, I virtually always include a vinyl bag tightly wrapped on the exterior. This is an attempt to prevent any USPS employee from opening the package for inspection as it would be time consuming for them to repackage it. This is done simply because my packaging is done more carefully than their repackaging and also to protect the book from the elements. The vinyl bag covers cardboard protection and you can simply cut the bag open (carefully) and remove the contents. The cardboard protection is also typically held with tape and cutting in the obvious places will allow the cardboard to pop right open, exposing the book (in another protective vinyl bag). Using this method, you should be able to open any book I send in under a minute. No "buzz saw" is required. Thank you
