Starting with his first book in 1944 Schmidt raised the money to print his books himself and continued to self-publish his works throughout his lifetime. His books were available through mail order or local bookstores in the Rochester, NY area. When Schmidt became legally blind he began working with Philip Parr of Caledonia, NY. Parr, a history & architecture buff worked with Schmidt on several books and shared authorship with Schmidt on “More About Octagons”.
