Description: Antique YELLOW DEPRESSION GLASS Round Plate MARKED STERLING SILVER Overlay Circa 1920s Size 10.5" diameter, sterling silver border is 1 3/8" wideExtremely unusual and very elegant design features a 4" diameter clear glass circle at center, surrounded by 20 elongated lozenge shaped radial scoop cuts. The scoop cuts are from the underside, the top surface of the plate is smooth.The sterling silver overlay is gorgeous- features a design of alternating large flower baskets, stylized scrolls, and baubles. All are connected by a draped 'chain' effect. There is a band of sterling above and below them. One of the large fruit baskets has the word STERLING embossed into the silver at its base. Very good condition, some faint surface scratches which are very minor and almost impossible to notice unless searching. Otherwise, excellent- no chips, nicks, cracks etc. Silver is very bright and glossy- not rubbed, worn or tarnished. The yellow glass is genuine yellow glass through and through, not yellow coloration 'flashed' or color treated. See all pics and use zoom. This plate is quite heavy due to the thickness of the scoop glass. The clear ring in the center is actually what the plate sits on, when on a table surface. Fabulous.
