Antique Valance with Two French Fabrics 1880s Long with Scalloped Edge

Description: ~*~Hello and Welcome to the Textile Trunk~*~ A beautiful find!! This textile is a fragment of an antique French hand worked bed valance dating from the late 19th century. There are 2 very different fabrics used on each side. The first is a lovely stylized Indienne wisteria floral pattern with tones of blue, sage green, cream and a dark purple-madder brown on an aged off-white ground. It is a medium weight linen & cotton fabric, and dates from c1880-1890. The other fabric is French and dates to circa 1880. This fabric has an embroidered-look pattern with rich autumnal tones! Lovely red, purple, browns, blue and whites! The fabric is a cretonne weave, (thin warp and thick weft) medium to heavy weight cotton. The valances scalloped edge is trimmed in a pink fabric. There is a string across the top that would have been used for hanging. ~A beautiful textile, ideal for hanging or deconstructing for smaller projects. ~*~ ( E25 ) MEASUREMENTS : I am selling this valance BY THE HALF, so each purchase quantity will be for a piece measuring about 102 inches wide, by 19 inches long at the longest part of the scallop, and 17 inches long at the shortest part of the scallop. To purchase the whole length, simply change the quantity value to 2, and you will receive the whole valance measuring 205 inches wide. CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition with light storage dust. There are many pale marks and age marks on the lighter fabric, including some pale dye bleeds, especially along the top where there are pink dye bleeds.
