Description: Beautiful eye-catching Japanese Arita (Hizen mark) Imari handcrafted and hand painted white porcelain wall plate featuring a contoured edge accented with gold gilt. We are not experts on Asian art pottery so we cannot state with certainty that this plate is from the Meiji period (late 1800s to early 1900s). It is very nice in quality and workmanship. This plate also features a center scroll and floral medallion bordered with a crisscross and floral motif and 6 reserves (panels). 3 panels have the three friends of the winter (bamboo, pine and plum) theme. The other 3 have a leaf encircled by gold, possibly a partial rolled scroll document and all surrounded by gold scroll and floral motif. This artwork is based on cobalt blue, red and green tones and is accented with gold gilt. This measures approximately 8-3/4" and weighs 1 lb 2 oz. The base rim has hole openings for hanging. Excellent used condition. This has light wear that is not enough to detract from this beautiful Japanese work of art pottery.
