Description: Dedham Pottery (USA, 1898-1929)This is the very desirable and rare Night and Day pitcher, a piece of crackle-glazed stoneware measuring 5" tall X 5 1/4" wide X 3 1/2" deep. This charming antique Dedham Pottery Night and Morning Pitcher (aka Day and Night Pitcher) has a chicken and rooster on one side greeting the sun and an owl on the other side under a crescent moon. An early catalog lists this as a No. 10, 1 Pint pitcher. This pitcher is in the trademark Dedham blue crackle glaze. The design on this and other Dedham pieces are all hand painted, so each piece is one of a kind.Dedham Pottery was founded during the Arts and Crafts period by Hugh Robertson as Chelsea Pottery in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1891, before moving to Dedham, Massachusetts in 1896. The mark on this particular pitcher shows the Dedham Rabbit and was used by Dedham Pottery form 1929 to 1943. This pitcher is circa 1930's. The condition of this pitcher is very good with no chips or cracks noted. It is as it was made with some glaze imperfections from the firing process. Please closely view all photos as these are considered to be part of the description and are the best indicator of condition.
