The clock demonstrates the finest quality of craftsmanship. The bleau celeste Sevres porcelain dial with individual white cartouches house black hand painted Roman numerals and gold outer chapter indicating minute marks. The dial is decorated to the centre with a hand painted floral garland and is surrounded by a beaded ormolu rim. The ormolu base with two finely hand painted miniature paintings depicting floral garlands. The whole is raised on scrolled feet and is surmounted by figure of a classical maiden. The twin train 8 day mechanical movement strikes the hours and half on a bell and comes complete with winding key, pendulum and bell. The mechanism is stamped by Japy Freres, having won a medal of honour is 1855 for that particular model of mechanism. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour.
