Description: Intriguing antique c1910s/1920s original watercolor painting depicting a view of a pond, lake or river from a beach complete with two row boats. One can note the lush foliage in the background and the city on the horizon in the further distance. Our thoughts were that maybe this is a view of the Charles River with Boston in the far background? Quite worthy of further research. Medium is watercolor on paper done in an Impressionist, almost Realist style. Signed with an artist monogram in the bottom right corner that looks the be an ‘M’ and a ‘W’ interwoven. Very well done with pleasing brushstrokes and nice use of color. Protected behind glass, matted and framed in its original gold wash wood frame and ready to hang. Provenance comes from a Westport, Connecticut area estate. All fair offers considered. In Excellent overall condition. Clean and crisp with no holes, rips or tears. Frame shows moderate to heavy wear to the gold wash finish as well as some chips. Still displays quite handsomely. Measures 19 1/4” x 9 1/4” and 25” x 15 1/4” with the frame.
