Description: Solid bronze sculpture measures 8" tall x 3" wide x 2" deep overall. Black marble base measures 3" x 2" x 2". Sculpture itself measures 7" tall x 3"wide x 2" deep. This is a fine reproduction or copy of Discobolus by artist Myron. The original Greek marble sculpture dated from 460-450 BC. Discobolus has become the mascot for the Olympic games. He represents perfect form and Greek body ideals. He is elegant and graceful. You can see the movement in this lovely bronze. The sculpture weighs just over 2 pounds. Vintageis somewhere around the late 1800-early 1900s. He has a very nice patina which takes time, the paper on the bottom looks incredibly old, the nut connecting the art to base looks handmade (not all the sides are uniform like a nut of today). His face has concentration but is somewhat cherub like. He has nicely detailed hair and finger and toe nails. His body is smooth and proportional. I feel this is a quality art piece. Condition is very good. Please see all the photos carefully and see what you think. As always please feel free to message me with any questions. I will do my best to answer any question accurately and quickly. I have not found a signature on the piece. I have also never removed the statue from the base. Don't be shy to make an offer. Thank you.
