First published in 1763 by C.W. Ettinger in Germany, it came to be regarded as an authority in the classification of monarchies and their courts, reigning and former dynasties, princely and ducal families, and the genealogical, biographical and titulary details of Europe's highest level of aristocracy. I've had about a half dozen of these ancient books in my life. They are fascinating looks into the families and connections of so many countries, some which no longer exist. 3 3/4" x 5 1/4" and 2" thick. This book was published in 1881 and in the French language. It was formerly, many years ago, Library of Congress item and is stamped as such inside. There are 1,083 pages!! The front cover is partially loose from the binding but the book remains tight. Cover is leather in vintage state, see photos.
