Alberto Vargas (1896-1982) Original Hand Signed Lithograph, Limited Edition

Description: Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chávez (1896 - 1982). An original lithograph by Vargas on paper of a red haired beauty leaning her face into her knees. Signed in the plate at the lower right corner and hand signed in pen by Vargas in the lower left. This is not a photocopied signature, this is not signed by Vargas’s relative or the model in the print! This is hand signed by Alberto Vargas. The print is in near fine condition, very clean and a strong bright image. There is a small nick in the bottom right corner far from the image(see photo) The dimensions of this print are 11” x 17” unframed. This lithograph is guaranteed to be an original print hand signed by Alberto Vargas. Provenance: This print originally came from a shop called the “Pin Up Shop” between 79’ and 81’. The shop specialized in risqué pin up art and photography. Derick J. Daniels, onetime president of Playboy magazine, was an investor in “The Pin Up Shop”. The original owner of the prints acquired them when the shop was closing, buying all the shop had in stock. He had meant to put this and some of the others up in his home office eventually, but never did out of consideration for his wife’s feelings. So they sat in storage for 30 years. They then resurfaced in an auction as part of his estate, where I was lucky enough to get 2 of them before they disappeared again. My wife has suggested they clash with our decor resulting in both being listed on eBay. If you have always wanted one, this a very good opportunity to get it at a fraction of their usual price.
