Description: 40s 50s Vintage Forstmann Wool Boucle Jacket 7 Sam Biern Buttons Gold Lion L A very chic 1940s - 1950s vintage virgin wool boucle jacket by Carlane Originals / Forstmann. The navy blue wool has a fine boucle texture and the jacket is fully lined in red-orange satin acetate. There are 2 functioning flap pockets on the sides. A matching set of 7 Sam Biern NY shank buttons brings this jacket to the apex of fashion. They're made of gold tone plated metal with a Mid Century Modern style rampant lion at the center. 5 of the buttons are signed with "Sam Biern - NY" on a raised plaque on the back side. One other button appears to have lost the plaque. All of the buttons are identical and they measure just over 7/8" in diameter. The perfect finishing touch on this exceptional jacket is gold bullion hand embroidery on the 2 pointed tabs beneath the collar. The bullion is made of very fine wire thread that is wound into a soft flexible hollow tube. It has a gold gilt finish that has softened over time and now has a beautiful antique patina. The jacket is in excellent condition, no stains or holes. The color is vibrant with no fading. The buttons are in very good condition overall, the gold tone plating is bright and shiny at the centers and somewhat cloudy at the edges. Minor scratches / scuffs / tiny spots of wear, but nothing that stands out. The overall appearance is excellent. The bullion embroidery is in good condition, the gilt plating has varying degrees of wear but the overall appearance is very good. No size tag, but it's approximately size 14 / Large. It's a boxy cut with slight tapering just above the hemline.
