1959 FUTURA MEDALLION Transistor Radio - SILVER STARS

Description: This very scarce USA made 1959 FUTURA MEDALLION transistor radio is a shirt-pocket size little gem in a rich blue case - Made by BELL LABS. The radio is a slight wedge from measuring 2 ½” across at the top and 2 3/8” across the bottom – it is 4 ¼” up and down. There are several unusual design features, most notably the silver, spacey looking escutcheon with the script vertical name FUTURA MEDALLION – no cracks or chips to the clear plastic cover. The contrasting clear and black thumbwheels have a stark appearance – the round grill is excellent. On the down side, there is a 10mm stress line on top left rear – this is tight, light, no material loss and is the slightest of flaws. Also lower right rear corner has a 3mm tiny chip – both of these cosmetic issues are on the front ½ of the case – finally, the back has a light scratch, not deep and not easily noticeable “E-11”. The inside labels are intact – the radio was tested and it is alive with some scratchy sound but no reception. One of the more interesting transistors we have ever had.
