This listing is for a HOWDY DOODY ventriloquist doll made by Ideal Toys. It is the "dressed" version, made in the mid-1950s. This is a variation with a different outfit and head coloring, including unusual light blue-green eyes. Howdy Doody is approximately 20" tall and made with a hard plastic head, rubber hands, and realistic clothing. The head is sculpted with an amazing likeness to the real Howdy Doody puppet, featuring glass sleep eyes and lifelike lashes. The mouth opens and closes using a pull-string located behind the neck. Includes the original scarf and elusive "Howdy Doody" boots, which are typically missing. At 65 years old, the doll is in excellent condition overall, with a bit of wear to the hair and boots. There is also an small 1/4" split in the plastic above the left eye from plastic shrinkage, but is unobtrusive and Howdy still looks great. The mouth and sleep eyes function as they should.
