Description: Up for auction is a very good copy of the 4th edition Bluebook. Internally owner's name on the first blue paste down page.(see picture) The contents is clean with no writing throughout. During the World War materials were in short supply and Whitman had to purchases other covers for their 3th and 4th editions. This copy has the scarce light blue 3rd edition cover that was left over and used for the fourth edition. Whitman stamped fourth edition above the lower title and covered the third edition in gold gilt. ( commonly know as Robin Egg Blue copy) The gold gilt in the title did not affix to these covers well. (see picture) The cover also has surface marks. (see picture) The spine shows slight wear on the edges and top and bottom. (see picture) The back cover has some surface marks.(see picture) It has been said that the fourth over third and the nineth over eighth may be the only "overdate" book covers in American numismatic publishing.
