Description: A remarkably well-preserved volume from the library of Croham Hurst School, a private day school for girls in South Croydon, which ran from 1899 to 2008. First impression of the first trade edition of 1935. Bound in the publisher's brown cloth with gilt title to spine, gilt detailing to upper board. Externally sound, firm, and clean with only slight rubbing to extremities, minor crumpling to spine ends. Internally, also sound. Front free endpaper with prior owner's signature, along with bookplate and ink stamp of the above school, and two other library marks in biro. Rear free endpaper with library card pocket affixed. No other library marks found. Text-block with fore and lower edges uncut, lightly spotted and age-toned. Pages, illustrations and maps largely clean and tidy throughout, just a little light foxing in places, occasional minor soiling, and some creasing to final three leaves. Small bookseller's ticket at foot of rear pastedown. Overall, in excellent condition, showing very little sign of use. Please view images carefully to confirm condition.
