Description: Original 1855 hand signed “Ten Dollars” note issued by “Bank of Yanceyville” in North Carolina. It has the hand inscribed serial number “5933” with a plain back. This bank operated from 1854 until 1866. At the lower left is a portrait of Bartlett Yancey, Jr. who studied law, began a practice, and eventually entered politics. He was said to have had a large influence when it came to public affairs. On the right, Ceres holds a sheaf of grain and a sickle. The note will be shipped in a protective sleeve with a dated, hand signed Letter of Authenticity with a photograph of the currency above.
