Description: I have here for a sale a book entitled A LECTURE ON THE ANCIENT CUSTOMS OF THE CITY OF HEREFORD, Delivered at the Soirees of the Herefordshire Philosophical and Literary Society, on the 22nd day of January and the 18th day of February, 1845 by RICHARD JOHNSON, Town-Clerk printed at The Times Office, Hereford, in 1845. First edition. Here we have a lecture on the ancient city of Hereford and its customs which Richard Johnson, town clerk from 1832-1868, cites as commanding the notice and respect of its Welsh neighbours.Brown textured cloth boards with the front board detached. Fading and marks on the boards. Gilt lettering on the spine which has tears at the top and in places on the hinge with the front board. Name stamp of previous owner on the front endpaper. Light foxing to endpapers and some pages.
