Description: Own a piece of Numismatic History! The NGC label identifies this coin as a GR (Graham-Reiver) Plate Coin. It is pictured on Pages 124 & 125 of Dick Graham’s book as an excellent, high-grade example of the 1838 GR-14. Not only that, on the NGC Cert Verification Page, it is shown as TOP POP for the 1838 GR-14 die variety. There is no NGC 1838 GR-14 graded higher. (See next to last picture, Courtesy NGC.) Graham's book, "A Registry of Die Varieties of Reeded Edge Half Dollars 1836 - 1839" was published in 2012. This coin was a part of Dick Graham's "Reference Collection" which Graham used to write his book which is now the standard that is used by the major grading companies to attribute the die variety of Reeded Edge Capped Bust Half Dollars. The last picture, (Courtesy Dick Graham), shows Page 124 of his book referenced above featuring this coin.
