Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have got to part with some of my collection. Meng is a relative newcomer to the model world but has established a stellar reputation for innovation and quality. They started with some more obscure subjects and even ventured into the super distorted world with the World War Toons line of tanks, but this is their release of the Soviet T-10 Heavy Tank. It started out as the IS-8 (named after Joseph Stalin) but was changed after the sad (and wonderful) death of the beloved (and despised) dictator. This model has a fully workable suspension and tracks along with some precision photo etched metal parts. Their ingenious jig allows the workable tracks to be assembled quickly without any glue! There are dozens of eBay listings for this kit (almost all from distant overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here is what I have learned about this state-of-the-art kit: The Meng website has a nice page for this kit with the dynamic box art and nine photos of an assembled, painted model and side-views of both painting schemes. They provide a link to download the complete 18-page instruction set and 2-page full-color painting guide. They also present the following information about the subject and their kit: T-10M was a Soviet heavy tank developed in the early 1950s. It was first called IS-8 and then renamed T-10. About 1500 T-10 tanks were produced. Its main armament was a 122mm M-62-T2 (2A17) rifled gun, and its secondary weapons were a 14.5mm KPVT coaxial machine gun and an anti-aircraft machine gun. The loader and the commander had infrared night vision equipment. The tank was equipped with an NBC protection system. It was powered by a 750hp V-12-6 diesel engine. Its top speed was 50km/h and its operational range 350km. Its combat weight was 51t. T-10M tanks were used in the Operation Danube during the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and finally removed from service in 1993. · This 1/35 scale Soviet T-10M Heavy Tank plastic model kit faithfully represents the structure and shape of the real vehicle· Clear lights, periscopes and optical equipment are included· Movable torsion bar suspension and cement-free workable tracks are provided· Crew hatches are movable· The main gun barrel can be elevated and lowered· Precision PE parts are included· Two paint schemes are provided Scalemates.com shows that this is a new tooling from 2015. They show the exciting box art and give us a link to download the complete full-color 20-page instruction set and painting guide. There are also many links to a dozen reviews, as well as books, galleries and references that will be useful in your build. Brett Green published a very thorough First Look Review on his missing-lynx.com site that has two dozen photos of the sprues, PE parts and decals. He gives a short explanation about the assembly of the individual track links, highlighting the convenient jig and pin sprues. In the Conclusion, he starts with: “Meng’s 1/35 scale T-10M is a beautiful kit with a very high level of detail delivered with a minimum of multimedia. It really is a tribute to the potential of modern injection moulded plastic.” Andreas Wolf composed a short First Look Review on the German-language ipmsdeutschland.de site that has over a dozen photos of the kit contents. He praised the workable tracks links and gave kudos for the torsion bar suspension. He really loved the kit but said the builder should have some experience before tackling this one due to the high parts count. His Conclusion starts with: “Again an excellent kit. Especially for friends of Soviet vehicles from the Cold War era, the kit is a must.” Mike posted a detailed In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site. You get a great look at the parts in the baker’s dozen high-resolution photos of the sprues, PE fret, metal parts, track links and decals. He gives a high-level inventory and then goes through the construction sequence, highlighting the impressive features of the kit. He very highly recommended the kit, saying: “As always, this is a quality piece of styrene engineering from Meng, and even the unditching log's texture impresses. They have made some very interesting strides in texturing of their models to add realism, and this one is a benchmark that many producers could aspire to.” If video reviews are your thing, florymodels posted a 14-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube. You get a great look at the instructions and the parts, along with an explanation of how the track assembling jig works. Stuart’s Scale models delivered a20-minute In-Box Review on YouTube that starts with a discussion of the tank and a look at the box. About halfway in, you get a look at the parts coming out of the box. Sometimes the sprues are still in the bags, so you don’t get a great look at them. ScaleModelAlberta produced a 2-part series of Build Review videos on YouTube. At the end, the model is assembled, but not quite finished. You do get a bunch of tips and opinions about the kit, though. This kit is in a colorful, sturdy box about 15” x 9.5” x 3.5”, with a great image of this monstrous tank. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with tape strips (these were never shrink wrapped from the factory), so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit, with over 320 dark green and 10 clear plastic parts, 192 individual black plastic track links with 384 pins, 18 photo etched metal parts, 20 poly caps and a large instruction set, along with a small set of Cartograf decals. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this large item is offered with $10 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
