Description: Psidium guajavaTropical Pear Well known for its abundant fruit production. Bright green leaves are accented by white, fragrant blooms most of the year. The bark is an attractive reddish brown and peels off revealing smooth gray bark beneath. Pear-shaped fruit with a green-yellow skin follow the blossoms and when cut open the fruit it is so sweet that it is used in the making of jams. An easy to grow plant that is suitable as a tropical, flowering bonsai and container growing. Fun Facts: 1. The tree was naturalized in Florida as early as 1765 and the first commercial plantings weren't until 19122. Native to Tropical America and was introduced early to Guam by the Spanish3.
